If anyone is in Atlanta or would be interested in moving :)
My company is hiring!
Hi everyone!

I finally posted some artwork to society 6 & red bubble:
society6.com/eviktedrei
www.redbubble.com/people/evikt…

Trying the print thing!
I am slowly putting up some of my favorite newer work... but if people have requests, please feel free to ask.

Also, I did get approved for a table at AWA this year! More details to come.
As long as work doesn't get in the way, I'll see you all there!
Anyone have any special tips or tricks in regards to taking pictures of real commissions?

I know a big part of my problem is the low light situation (at night especially) ha ha. I primarily use my iphone 5C because it's convenient to upload. Don't really like the scan process.
Hey all!

I've been working on my con prep materials :)

A couple new posters! (4 new designs so far!)
A bunch of greeting cards! (15 designs~)
New teacup pincushions with super cute packaging!

Also, I will officially be retiring my bookmarks. I may bring them with for people who request them specifically, but I will not have them out on display.
Please stop by and say hello!

I'll have my 3$ value coupon available soon :)

I'll post some pics on my tumblr soon~

See you then!

Thank you AWA 2014!
I had a lot of fun this year. Surprisingly Sunday was my best day. I was very happy that everyone was kind and had so many nice comments about my new work. The geisha piece was the most popular!

I will do my best to continue creating new artwork.

Thank u all again!!

Has anyone purchased from Society 6 before? How do you feel about their prints & print quality?

I'm quite interested in ordering a rug as well, but I don't want to be stuck with a low quality rug again! (my last purchase for the house was from bed bath & beyond and that thing is terrible...)
Yay!

Continuing the sailormoon headshot series :) My next favorite character design after dark lady, Luna in human form! Please look forward to it.
HAHAHA why not.

>_> Can someone tell me about this? I see these amazing designs everywhere...... is it worth giving it a try? it looks like so much fun, but I'm not sure how to get into the community!
:D I want to try some new stuff~ Last drawing for the year?!

Please post your OC's! (color details)

I'm only going to select one out of the first 3-5 posters.

I'm probably going to offer a headshot commission afterwards for $5 if anyone is interested afterwards!

Thank you my dears!
to draw! I feel it. I hope I can manage something by the end of the year. I'd like to add to the gallery >_>
Having an intense conversation with a friend about how a lot of students really have trouble with criticism from teachers. (particularly in art school)

It's always a fight about "I want to do what looks good to me! Not what the teacher wants! Everyone else says it looks good!"

I've always found this argument very weak.
I mean, your teacher is there to teach you. You're supposed to try your best to listen. Is this hard?
If you refuse to abide by their rules, they will give you a poor grade. At that point, you don't deserve to argue.
Even with difficult or opinionated teachers, there are ways to please their expectations while doing your own thing. It's a creative problem solving. Imagine trying to be stubborn with a client who is disagreeing with your work. Guess what, they're just NOT going to pay you or work with you ever again.

I feel like in America people don't value education. It's just an excuse to ask for more money in a workplace. Is this true? Is the value of a teacher in the United States diminishing? I feel like there's no respect at all. It saddens me when I meet people who say that teachers are OVERPAID.

I also noticed that people who have trouble taking criticism struggle in a company or other work environment, because they're convinced people should pay them money to do what they want.

That kind of doesn't make sense........ I mean, would you pay for your own stuff? At the rate you're asking?...

Just needed to rant! lol
Come see me at Artist Alley! Don't forget to bring your coupon :)

I just wanted to say that.

(Also, not going to help that the company is bringing in animal shelter adoptions today...)
/whelp there goes productivity.
/warning: random personal observation post

It's funny, that I often review my own work (especially here on dA)...and I actually get a little upset with myself because I have nothing to shown that really showcases any of my other skill sets. I'm actually a little abnormal, in that I don't have a particularly strong desire to do one certain thing. Rather, I have many random interests, but just like to dabble.

In truth, I don't have personal motivation to create my own work. Hence, my inability to really pursue freelance effectively. But that's a different issue.

Even my real life friends and family, hardly know that I am an artist, outside of the "I draw teh animes" sense. I think I excel the most in still life painting and rendering. I also really love crafting, sculpting, and jewelry making. I prefer acrylics for paint media, solely due to its easy blending when wet, and quick drying so I can cover mistakes faster. I think I almost never venture into traditional medias nowaday outside of pencil/pen due to the sole fact that it's just a pain to clean up... I sadly lost my two oil paintings in college that I really worked hard on to prove to myself I could do something more traditional. I hope one day I can push myself to try again.

I think most of my best work now comes from projects that other people give me. When I was younger, I used to come up with all sorts of interesting ideas and designs, but now it's just tedious to flesh them out. Perhaps my mind is just too erratic to stick with one thing and follow through. My thrown together "studio" at my new home really shows my ADD personality when it comes to artistic interests. It's flooded mostly with cute stuff now, which I like quite much, but also feel guilty about pursuing artistically for some crazy reason. Maybe my childhood made me feel like a "real artist" is only the kind that can reproduce the likeness of a person without any effort.

Anime field is always a constant internal battle for myself. I see how others grow and change (and sometimes stay stagnant). I want to venture outside of this seemingly small world, stylistically. Which I do get to do sometimes, and it's really nice. But I think having worked with this style so long, it is still what I gravitate towards when I don't have any ideas about what to do. I also only get random freelance work in this style. I can't blame the clientelle though, I have naught else to show. I guess it really takes a fighting spirit to pump out all the artwork that lives inside the artist's mind. I'm always envious and enamored by the dedicated people who seem to spend more time drawing than they breathe. I'm slowly trying to push myself to do more finished work just so I can say "look, I can also do THIS".

That all being said, I still find myself occasionally drawing Sailormoon fanart, meticulously, in my free time. I guess it's just in my blood :)
